When you walk into TreeHead Culture’s new cannabis dispensary in Amherst, New York, you’ll immediately feel welcome. Friendly staff, comfortable seating and 1990s music create a warm and fun vibe. “Most dispensaries are retail-oriented, whereas TreeHead Culture is comfortable and inviting,” said customer Roland Hayes.

The store boasts a wide collection of cannabis products and serves adults 21 and older who can shop in-store, online and sign up for delivery. Consumer safety is top of mind as every product TreeHead Culture sells is tested.

The premier cannabis dispensary had a soft opening in February, and a grand opening is scheduled for April 20 and will feature food and live music. TreeHead Culture staff is excited to welcome the community to come together to commemorate the dispensary’s ribbon cutting, which occurs at 4:20 p.m. during the grand opening event.

An entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience, Chebat is opening TreeHead Culture’s Amherst location to realize his dream of contributing to community wellness. Many people use cannabis products recreationally to have a good time, but TreeHead Culture’s mission dives further into the therapeutic possibilities that cannabis offers.

The term “treehead” represents a person who uses cannabis therapeutically. “Treeheads are people who want to become the best versions of themselves,” said Chebat, who values product safety and his ability to stay sober and present for his three children while using cannabis. These values are reflected in TreeHead Culture’s customers, many of whom are working professionals trying to get well, not high, he observed.

“You can hone cannabis to target how you want to feel and increase your quality of life,” he said. TreeHead Culture’s cannabis-based products might help give a tired parent an energy or creativity boost, aid an insomniac in falling asleep, help a person with their anxiety or even influence compassion.

TreeHead Culture’s staff has observed an increase in people turning to cannabis as a “natural alternative.” They believe it might take generations before societal attitudes fully shift away from stigmas surrounding cannabis use, but that people like his customers in family-oriented Amherst are helping that shift by seeking to improve their health and well-being with safe, carefully curated products.

TreeHead Culture carries a variety of common products, like flower, topicals and tinctures, but every customer receives a personalized experience. Each budtender on staff is highly trained in a range of products and uses and empowers customers to understand how different options could apply to their individual needs. “We offer a customized experience because people are so different,” said Chebat.

TreeHead Culture has a suggestion box where customers can request certain strains, and TreeHead will work with their farmers to produce those strains. This model of curating bespoke cannabis products takes six to 12 months, but the wait is worth it for customers who seek specific strains to best manage a specific issue.

Soon, TreeHead Culture will be sending invitations not only to friends and community members, but organizations that the team believes should feel involved, like the Amherst police department and government officials. Meanwhile, TreeHead Culture is taking the time to ensure the business is in full compliance with regulation, planning future educational courses, ordering products and encouraging folks to stop by the store or check out the website.

TreeHead Culture has same-day delivery for online orders for certain products and next-day delivery for custom orders. “We’re here if you’re ready to learn more about cannabis and how it can improve your life,” Chebat said.
